Working Principle | When a fault occurs in the power system (such as a partial short circuit or open circuit in the power grid), the neutral point of the power distribution system will be shifted. At this time, the neutral point ground resistance will force the neutral point of the power distribution system to ground and limit its failure. Electrical currents allow the power system time to detect, diagnose, protect, and switch over, thereby avoiding possible line or equipment damage. Since the neutral point resistance can absorb a large amount of resonance energy, in the grounding method with a resistor, the fundamental suppression of the system resonance overvoltage. The neutral point grounding resistance is very small when the power transmission and distribution system works normally, and when the power system fails, the current flowing through the neutral point grounding resistance is large and the time is very short.
